SPAIN, Seville, gold cob 2 escudos, Philip III, assayer D, with weight-regulating plug (rare), NGC AU 50. Cal-Type 197; Fr-189; KM-20. 6.70 grams. Nice full cross and shield, at the top of which (not noticed by NGC) is a crude, roundish plug in contemporaneous gold, most likely to fill an old hole and circulate the coin at proper weight, some peripheral flatness, bold assayer D and full denomination II.
